No attorney-client relationship with Asenati

Creating an account, submitting intake information, uploading documents, receiving a quote, paying, or waiting for matching does not create an attorney-client relationship with Asenati. Any attorney-client relationship exists only between the client and the independent lawyer who accepts the request, and only within the scope agreed during the consultation.

Independent lawyers

Lawyers matched through Asenati are independent legal professionals and are not employees, partners, or agents of Asenati. Asenati may verify profile information and documents for platform purposes, but does not supervise legal advice, control professional judgment, or guarantee any lawyer's availability, conflict position, professional indemnity arrangements, or outcome.

Clients should confirm the lawyer’s credentials, scope of engagement, next steps, and any separate fees for work beyond the booked consultation.

Scope of a consultation

A fixed-price Asenati consultation is intended for initial advice and guidance through video/chat. It does not automatically include court representation, document drafting, ongoing retainer work, correspondence with third parties, appearances, filings, or urgent litigation steps unless separately agreed directly with the lawyer.

Conflicts and suitability

A lawyer may decline or stop assisting where they identify a conflict of interest, lack the necessary expertise, are not available, or believe the matter requires a different form of legal service. Some matters may require urgent, in-person, or formally mandated legal representation outside Asenati.

No guarantee of outcome

We do not guarantee that a consultation will resolve your legal issue, that a lawyer will accept your request, or any particular court or regulatory outcome.

Urgent and emergency matters

Asenati is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, have been arrested, or face an imminent court deadline today, contact emergency services (e.g. 10111) or a lawyer directly without relying on platform response times.

Technology limitations

Video and chat depend on internet connectivity and third-party systems. Recordings may not be available unless explicitly stated. Do not rely on the platform as your only record of advice—confirm important instructions in writing with your lawyer where needed.

Confidentiality and privacy

Legal issue descriptions, documents, chat messages, and consultation records may contain sensitive personal information. Asenati uses this information to operate the marketplace, process payments, match lawyers, support consultations, handle disputes, and meet compliance obligations as described in the Privacy Policy.

Do not include unnecessary third-party personal information unless it is relevant to the legal issue.

Dispute review

In-platform dispute review is an operational process to assess service delivery and billing. It is not a court ruling, regulatory finding, or substitute for formal legal proceedings, arbitration, or LPC complaints processes.

Consumer Protection Act

Where you qualify as a consumer under South African law, mandatory rights may apply in addition to these disclaimers. Nothing here excludes rights that cannot be excluded by law.
